Ed Sheeran sang Spice Girls song Goodbye with Emma Bunton – just before Geri Horner announced she’s pulling out of reunion

ED Sheeran took on the role of Ginger Spice shortly before Geri Horner pulled out of upcoming reunion by singing the band's hit track Goodbye with Emma Bunton.

The pop star appeared on Emma's Heart radio show and joked that he could take Geri's spot just hours before the pregnant singer pulled out of the planned Spice Girls reunion.

The Sun exclusively revealed that the original Ginger Spice would no longer be joining Emma and Mel B for the band's comeback show this summer.

She has chosen to focus on motherhood as she is currently expecting her second child, but it looks as if Emma and Mel already have a replacement.

Ed  sang with Emma on the radio shortly before we broke Geri's exit news, and he joked that he could be the new Ginger Spice.

The singer, who ironically sang Spice Girls hit Goodbye with Emma, said: "I could be Ginger Spice!"

Emma agreed, adding: "You could so be Ginger Spice."

Ed then joked: "If you get me the Union Jack dress, I could squeeze into that."

Geri, 44, is preparing to become a mother for the second time after announcing she and husband Christian are expecting their first child together.

She is already mother to 10 -year-old Bluebell Madonna, her daughter from a previous relationship with screenwriter Sacha Gervasi.

Geri and Christian, who also has a daughter called Olivia from his marriage to Beverley Allen, married in May 2015.

A source told us that Geri no longer wants to take part in the Spice Girls reunion show, which are

The insider said: "Geri’s ­priorities have changed.

"Her baby is due later this year and rather than force a reunion, she’s needs to concentrate on more personal matters.

"Getting all the girls in the studio at the same time proved a tough task.

"What they needed was one main boss-style figure to pull the strings otherwise they would be constantly in limbo.”

The reunion show was to take place in London's Hyde Park this summer to mark 21 years since the release of the band's debut single Wannabe.

The singers had been due to perform as GEM, an acronym of their first names.
