EastEnders fans devastated as they face a longer wait to find out what happens next after Max Branning’s cliffhanger
EASTENDERS fans were left thoroughly devastated after they are forced to painfully wait even longer to find out what had happened after Max Branning's cliffhanger.
Viewers had been waiting throughout the weekend for the big reveal - but were left disappointed after Max (Jake Wood) failed to appear in Monday's episode at all.
On Friday Max was seen meeting with a mysterious businessman in London's Shard.
The businessman, described in the credits as only ‘Chairman, Weyland & Co’, told Max: “That’s where I grew up over there. Deprived, depressed. Not many people got out of there, believe me.”
Chillingly, he then said: “Well that’s next on my list. Let it burn for all I care.”
After being framed for the murder of Lucy Beale, Max appears to have been planning to get his revenge on the entire square.
Some have speculated that he may have caused, or set up, the bus crash.
So fans were fuming when he was not featured in Monday's episode.

A fan tweeted irritably: "Of course #EastEnders didn't mention anything about max, why would they? Not like they left it on a cliffhanger and made us wait 4 days."
Some saw the funny side, with one commenting: "Reckon Max has got lost on his way back from The Shard 😂😂 #Eastenders."
