What is Red Nose Day Actually? What’s the storyline?

Red Nose Day Actually is a brand new, ten-minute sequel to Love Actually, created by original writer and director Richard Curtis for Comic Relief.

The new special is set 14 years after the original movie, which was released in 2003.

“I would never have dreamt of writing a [full] sequel to Love Actually,” explained Curtis, “but I thought it might be fun to do ten minutes to see what everyone is now up to.”

Curtis, who co-founded the charity with Sir Lenny Henry, has previously made Red Nose Day specials of Blackadder, The Vicar of Dibley and Mr Bean.

Ahead of the film's screening, fans' excitement was stoked by the release of a teaser trailer recreating Adam Lincoln's character's iconic declaration of love from the original:

Which Love Actually cast members are returning?

Most of the original cast signed up to reprise their roles in Red Nose Day Actually.

They include: Hugh Grant, Martine McCutcheon, Keira Knightley, Liam Neeson, Colin Firth, Andrew Lincoln, Bill Nighy, Rowan Atkinson, Marcus Brigstocke, Olivia Olson and Game of Thrones star Thomas Brodie-Sangster.

Martin Freeman, Kris Marshall and Emma Thompson are among those not listed. Of course, Alan Rickman sadly died in January 2016.

Emma Freud, director of Red Nose Day and Richard Curtis’s wife, posted images from the filming on Twitter.

Fans got excited as Keira Knightley was pictured filming new scenes for the Love Actually sequel with Andrew Lincoln – hinting she could finally leave her on-screen husband for his besotted BFF.

The actress played Juliet in the original 2003 hit movie, who married Peter (Chiwetel Ejiofor), failing to realise his best friend Mark – played by Andrew – was head over heels in love with her.

New pics also emerged showing Hugh Grant filming with Martine McCutcheon on the set of the Comic Relief sequel to the film – and she is now his wife.
