ASHLEY Roberts has high hopes for Saturday’s Let It Shine semi-final.

The singer has joined Gary Barlow, Dannii Minogue and Martin Kemp on the judging panel and told The Sun Online she’s expecting a lot from the performances.

Speaking at the NME Awards, Ashley said: “I want the boys to have fun but I also want them to show me that star quality and how much they want the job.”

Before taking to the stage, Ashley also revealed she’d been honing her judging skills and had devised a game plan for the evening.

She explained: “I believe in constructive criticism.

“I'm going in there with a really open mind and a really open heart”

After Take That star Gary asked her to join the show, Ashley was delighted and admitted she couldn’t wait to meet him in person.

She added: “I don't know Gary personally but I am so excited about hanging out with him.

“I've heard such great things about him. And Dani Minogue seems awesome.

“She is legendary - an absolute ledge!”

The show comes off the back of the success of other talent competitions including Any Dream Will Do, which cast Lee Mead in the role of Joseph in the West End revival of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat.

And if this is successful, Gary is already planning a second series to find a girl group.

Last week American talk show host Ricki Lake joined the panel last week and wowed fans with her judging style.
