Mean Tweets is a part of Jimmy Kimmel's late night show that frequently goes viral - so a special Oscar edition seemed like the perfect antidote for the growing egos that come with being praised for their work.
Natalie Portman is the first to take up the challenge, and reads a tweet that says: "Feel like if you went to lunch with Natalie Portman she would only order a hot tea with lemon and MAYBE some toast. Definitely not an entree though."
The camera then pans out to reveal her heavily pregnant belly, which she turns to the side to reveal even more of before she rubs it and declares: "You are wrooooong!"
Ryan Gosling, who was nominated as Best Leading Actor for La La Land, had his rugged good looks chipped into with another scathing tweet.
The 36-year-old read: "Oh, look at me...I'm Ryan Gosling, I have perfect bone structure and kind eyes. Go f*** yourself Ryan Gosling."

Looking slightly hurt, Ryan then gives puppy dog eyes to the camera to try and gain sympathy - while REM's Everybody Hurts plays in the background.
His co-star Emma Stone also didn't get let off lightly and was also given a scathing attack in the videotape - reading a tweet that told her that she "looked like a crack w**** in every role that she plays".
She shook off the comment by just nodding and saying: "Alright."
However, others seemed happy with their critiques, with Samuel L Jackson proudly declaring that he did, in fact, have a "resting fart face".
Casey Affleck, who beat Ryan Gosling to the Best Lead Actor gong for Manchester by the Sea, burst out laughing when he was compared to Billy Bob Thornton's character in 1996 movie Sling Blade.
However, with the exception of this segment, the real targets for the evening came in President Donald Trump - and Jimmy Kimmel's long-time 'foe' Matt Damon.
The pair have had a long-running comedy rivalry starting nearly ten years ago when Jimmy would always end his show with 'I'm sorry to Matt Damon, but we're out of time."
The presenter later 'banned' Matt from his show when he took part in a comedy song with then-girlfriend Sarah Silverman in 2009 titled I'm F***ing Matt Damon.
Jimmy later jokingly responded with his own song, titled I'm F***ing Ben Affleck - in a nod to Ben and Matt's close friendship and work partnership - and one-upped the previous song with a series of high-profile cameos in the viral video.
Last year, as Ben promoted Batman V Superman, he 'smuggled' Matt onto the set to bury the hatchet by hiding him under a giant coat.
At this year's event, held at Los Angeles' Dolby Theatre, Matt referred to Jimmy as 'talentless' and Jimmy responded by calling him "the fat one now".
He later completely disrupted Matt's introduction and nominee announcements with the live house orchestra - while Ben Affleck played along.
