Ed Sheeran reveals he has his own menagerie with otters, hedgehogs and herons on his Suffolk estate
Superstar keeps a horde of unusual pets at his 16th-century countryside mansion
ED SHEERAN isn’t just leaving behind his family and friends when he sets off on his first tour in two years.
As he heads to Italy to kick off his arena shows, the Brit superstar also has a horde of secret pets to say goodbye to.
Ed has revealed he has his own personal zoo on his Suffolk estate.
Listing his brood — which also includes two cats — he said: “I’ve got otters, hedgehogs, I have herons, barn owls, I’ve got a bunch of stuff. It’s a cool environment to be in.”
But the singer — whom I have mocked up as pet detective Ace Ventura — is already mourning the loss of part of his animal kingdom after discovering one of his otters had eaten his koi fish.
He explained: “The otters are funny because I bought some koi fish. I spent a bit of money on these because I wanted to have some nice fish for my pond.
“This otter obviously has expensive taste and ate all of them. So we bought some more koi fish for the otter.
"Now this otter lives there and is just sitting there smoking a cigar, living the expensive life.”

Ed has created an incredible home at his 16th-century mansion in the Suffolk countryside, where he grew up.
Alongside his creature-filled farm, he has a swimming pool, a Jacuzzi and a tree-house studio where he recorded record-breaking album Divide.
That’s not forgetting the underground tunnel leading to his own private pub, which serves local ales.
But despite having booze on tap, Ed has banned any wild parties on his multi-million pound estate.
He said: “I’m not going to throw a party in my house. Especially with my mates.
“My school mates are a bit rowdy.”
Ed’s fans were left baffled yesterday when the hashtag “#sheeranalbumparty” started trending on Twitter.
The cheeky innuendo was a prank started by GREG JAMES, SCOTT MILLS and CHRIS STARK as part of their Radio 1 LOLathon for Comic Relief — and a nod to SUSAN BOYLE’s famous “#susanalbumparty” gaffe in 2012.
Luckily Ed, whose European tour begins in Turin tonight, laughed it off and revealed he had tried to pull the same joke on JAMES BLUNT.
He tweeted: “@gregjames no worries, I tried to trend it with @JamesBlunt a week ago to no avail, you are my hero”.
Ed needs to spend less time on the farm and more on his hashtags.

Guy's glam plan for posh campsite
AFTER calling time on his side-career as a pub landlord, GUY RITCHIE has found a new way to keep his celeb pals entertained.
I’ve learned the film director is getting into the camping business with an ultra-posh glamping site on his Somerset estate.
He trialled the idea at his own festival-themed wedding to model JACQUI AINSLEY in 2015, when they put up A-list guests in top-end yurts at his Ashcombe House property in nearby Wiltshire.
A source said: “Guy hopes to launch the venue this year. He already runs shooting events on his land. He believes there’s a huge market for this. It’s very high end.”
Guests who stayed in the posh tents at his wedding included BRAD PITT, HENRY CAVILL, JASON STATHAM and DAVID BECKHAM.
Becks was a regular at Guy’s old pub The Punch Bowl, in Mayfair, London, before he sold it in 2013.

Cops probe Jez 'assault'
JEREMY McCONNELL’s week is going from bad to worse. The CBB star is apparently being investigated by police over claims he assaulted his on-off girlfriend STEPHANIE DAVIS. I broke the news last night that Jeremy may face questions from Merseyside Police after an official complaint was made on Sunday. A police spokesman said: “We can confirm that a report was received of an assault at a property on Thursday, March 9. “Officers were contacted on Sunday, March 12, and an investigation is ongoing. At this time no arrests have been made.” It comes days after Jeremy put on a united front with Stephanie after a paternity test confirmed he is the father of baby Caben-Ali. He is also mourning the recent deaths of his father and aunt. A rep for Jeremy said: “Jeremy denies any wrongdoing. However, he is fully co-operating with the police in their investigations.” Stephanie’s spokesman declined to comment.

Swift makes smart moves
SOMETHING exciting is happening in the world of TAYLOR SWIFT.
The US superstar has filed trademarks for the word Swifties suggesting she is preparing to launch a new fan app and website.
One document covers computer software for mobiles which can be used for streaming and downloading music and live performances.
But sources close to the singer shot down claims it means she is launching her own streaming service to rival Spotify and Apple Music.
Most of the trademarks are related to merchandise and retail, which would let Taylor brand and sell her own musical instruments, jewellery and clothing.
The most interesting trademark covers “educational services”.

JAMES BLUNT is the surprise inclusion at a memorial service for CARRIE FISHER and her mum DEBBIE REYNOLDS, who died within days of each other in December.
The singer, who was a close friend of Star Wars icon Carrie, has written a song for her which will be debuted at the service on March 25.
James won’t perform, but his song will be played over a photo montage at the event in front of 1,200 people at the Forest Lawn Cemetery in New York.
Along with James’s track, the public memorial will also feature a dance tribute from the Debbie Reynolds Dance Studio and a performance from the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles.
Guest of honour will be Carrie’s beloved French bulldog, Gary.
