Who won the 2018 MasterChef final?

After a grueling process, the would-be MasterChefs were whittled down to a final three.

In the final Kenny Tutt, David Crichton and Nawamin Pinpathomrat went head-to-head for the title.

And in the end it was Kenny who won out after impressing the judges with a stunning final three courses.

Kenny’s winning menu, inspired by his MasterChef journey, started with Roast scallops, smoked cauliflower, shimeji mushroom and pancetta.

His main course was a Squab pigeon breast and bon-bon, heritage beetroot, baby turnip, spiced cherries, bread sauce and game jus.

He finished the meal with a Bitter chocolate, ale ice-cream, malt tuile and smoked caramel.

Emotional Kenny said of his win: "It is a really special day. I have learnt so much and I couldn’t appreciate it any more.

"Today was 100% my best cooking in the entire competition everything just fell into place.

"I am just blown away. I have put my heart and soul into it and it’s been an absolute pleasure. It’s up there with the happiest days of my life!"

John Torode and Gregg Wallace congratulated Kenny on his "crowd-pleasing" winning dishes.

“I think Kenny’s journey has been extraordinary," said Torode.

"He has come a long way. His food has got more and more refined and his main course was make-my-heart-thump fantastic!"

Who won MasterChef 2017?

Last year's competition was won by Saliha Mahmood-Ahmed.

The medical professional beat off stiff competition with a stunning array of dishes dubbed "East meets West" by Gregg, and thoroughly impressed fellow judge John.

When she was 15, her love for competition was ignited when she entered the School Chef of the Year competition, which she ended up winning.

How does MasterChef work?

The format of MasterChef sees amateur cooks competing through a variety of heats, quarterfinals and semifinals until the ultimate winner is crowned.

Contestants may have to invent dishes on the spot or cook for food critics.

Gregg and John judge the dishes being served - with all the action, tantrums, successes and burning disasters caught on camera.

The winner walks away with a trophy and the prestige of being THE master chef of the series.
