Rudimental joke they had to tell Ed Sheeran to ‘leave them alone’ after he ‘bored them to death’ with his music knowledge

The group collaborated with Ed on Lay It All On Me and Bloodstream

RUDIMENTAL'S DJ Locksmith and Piers Agget might be two of Ed Sheeran's biggest fans but they're not afraid to tell him to pipe down when he's geeking out on music.

The group has had two huge collaborations with the successful singer/songwriter in the shape of Bloodstream and Lay It On Me and they count him as a good friend.

Speaking to The Sun Online at a special DJ set for MixMag, Locksmith said: "What you see in the media with Ed is exactly what he's like. He's enthusiastic, he loves music and he'll bore you to death about artists, songwriters and producers I've never heard of before.

"Sometimes you just have to say "Ed, leave me alone, mate!" That's the kind of guy he is. He just loves music and to see him at them heights is just insane."

Rudimental has a successful track record when it comes to collaborating with the best up-and-coming British talent having worked with the likes of John Newman, Anne-Marie, Ella Eyre and Becky Hill.

"The thing with Anne-Marie, she is part of the Rudimental fold, so much in fact that we signed her to our label," explained Locksmith.

"So she's special to us. She's gone off and done big things in her solo career, and it's kind of like the Rudimental formula that we didn't have in the beginning with the John Newmans and the Becky Hills. "We'd have loved to have signed those guys. They've gone off to do amazing things."

Piers added: "We're good friends. We're friends on Facebook with everyone. It's like a family in Rudimental."

It's shaping up to be a busy summer for the boys, with a new single set to drop imminently and the third instalment of their Wild Life festival, which they curate with Disclosure, is just weeks away.

This year the two groups will hand over the headline slots to Jess Glynne and Dizzee Rascal, however, they'll both be performing DJ sets.

Discussing the festival, which takes place at Brighton City Airport on June 9 and 10, Piers said they just want to keep building it.

"Hopefully we'll get bigger and bigger," he said. "What you're guaranteed is quality music and an amazing line up and a good vibe. That's all we're about. Putting it into an environment which is amazing to party and positive."

Locksmith added: "I think end goal is to take it to other cities in the world."
