Married Irishman Andrew locked lips with visiting cousin Kieran in weird scene branded 'very soap' by bemused viewers of the Kat & Alfie crime drama
REDWATER viewers were left cringing behind their cushions during the latest episode of the Kat and Alfie EastEnders spin-off as two male cousins shared a secret kiss.
Married Irish dad Andrew was seen locking lips with his blood relative Kieran, who is visiting from America, after some play-fighting in a pub bathroom.
Troubled Kieran initiated the smooch despite the fact he's been lodging with Andrew's his wife and daughter.
The pair have been brought together for a memorial service to a female relative who drowned, and despite much of the morbid goings-on in the show sparks have flown between them.
However, many viewers found the scene too much to take, calling it "very soap" on Twitter, while one remarked: "They're not holding back with the WTF moments!"
After the surprise kiss, Andrew was left confused and returned to his wife and daughter in the pub while Kieran sulked.
Despite the furore surrounding the kiss, those sharp enough to keep up with the barmy plot have suggested that Andrew and Kieran, played by Peter Campion and Ian Toner, might not actually be cousins.
This is because there's a chance that one of them could turn out to be Kat's lost son, even though Kat currently thinks that's another character called Dermott.
Seeing as Dermott is a priest and a murderer, it'll really be a weight off everyone's minds if he isn't Kat's real spawn.
Other plot points in the show have raised eyebrows too, with one viewer tweeting: "Why does a memorial for a woman who drowned involve running and frolicking in the sea?A week after someone else drowned?Ridiculous #Redwater."
Redwater has haemorrhaged millions of viewers since its first episode despite some positive reviews.
