Viewers demand answers after major live TV glitch sees studio vanish to be replaced by a silent room being set up by journalists
CHANNEL 4 viewers were left scratching their heads today as Sunday Lunch suddenly cut to an eerie press conference room being set up midway through the show.
In a major live glitch, the broadcast of the cooking chat show was interrupted with footage from a silent room where journalists seemed to be setting up an interview.
As the channel cut back to the Sunday Brunch studio, hosts Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer seemed oblivious about what had happened.
The glitch wasn't mentioned by the presenters as they chatted and made guacamole with two members of the band Slaves.
However, viewers were immediately asking if they'd witnessed a transmission error or whether some major news was about to break.
One wrote on Twitter "Will we ever find out what that was?", while another asked "So what's going on lads?".
Then, during the next segment of the show, Lovejoy sheepishly apologised for the accidental interruption to the mysterious "press conference".
He joked: "Apparently it was the best part of the show so far."
But even after the apology, a third viewer commented: "I need more info... press conference for what?... Curious."
Today's guests included Rita Ora and comedian Nish Kumar.
Sunday Brunch airs weekly from 9.30am on Channel 4.
