As he set pulses racing, Elvis briefed the team – including the show’s star Lance Corporal Georgie Lane, played by Michelle Keegan – about their next mission.

His reappearance sent viewers into meltdown after they’d complained about his lack of screen time in the hit BBC One drama’s first episode.

One fan tweeted: “Just finished watching #ourgirl me and my mum both screamed with joy when Elvis popped up!”

A second wrote: “Absolutely buzzing to see elvis' gorgeous face return to my screen!”

Our Girl writer Tony Grounds had previously revealed how the third series would explore a series of issues.

So far, the squadron have been helping locals in Nepal following a devastating earthquake.

And now it seems Georgie and the rest of their team will be following Elvis as he joins them for their next mission.

But could romance be on the cards for Georgie and Elvis?

The pair were previously engaged but on the day of her wedding, he jilted her and left her heartbroken at the altar.

While they did hook up again, Georgie went on to dump Elvis at the end of series two – leaving a huge question mark about where they could go next.

Speaking about their turbulent romance, Luke told The Radio Times: “The relationship is very up and down.

“They’re still very much in love with each other but there’s something in there that drives them apart. They can be together but there’s too much history there for them to get straight back into it and Georgie’s got this huge trust issue with Elvis.

“A lot of that stuff comes to light and the frustration levels really increase this year.

“A bit like Ross and Rachel’s Friends situation – will they, won’t they? You never quite know.”
