Coronation Street star Michael Le Vell facing bankruptcy after spending £200k fighting child sex claims
The actor was forced to pay out huge sums to clear his name in the courts in 2013

CORRIE star Michael Le Vell is facing bankruptcy proceedings — after spending more than £200,000 clearing his name against child sex claims.
The actor, 52, who plays mechanic Kevin Webster, has been contacted by the Bankruptcy Unit of the Land Registry.
The letter about action was sent to Le Vell — real name Michael Turner — at his girlfriend’s home in Altrincham, Greater Manchester.
He fought sexual abuse charges in 2013 and was cleared by a jury of all 12 counts.
But Ministry of Justice rules that prevent taxpayers from footing large bills for people that can afford their defence blocked him from clawing back his costs.
A source said: “He had false accusations hanging over him for years and couldn’t work.”
