EASTENDERS star Jake Wood has hinted Max Branning could team up with Mel Owen following Tamzin Outhwaite's return.
The Sun revealed in October that the actress would be returning to Albert Square after a 16-year absence, and Tamzin made her first appearance at the end of last night's episode.
Appearing on today's Good Morning Britain, her co-star Jake Wood, who plays bad boy Max, talked about her return and what the future could hold for their characters.
Host Susanna Reid said: "You never did EastEnders with her so does this open up new storylines do you think?"
Jake, 45, replied: "It could do,yeah. I don't know exactly what they've got in mind.
"Obviously that character has got a lot of history with Ian Beale. Who knows?"
While Jake remained tight lipped about what the show's writers might have in store for Max and Mel, Tamzin previously admitted to The Sun that she would like Max to become Mel's latest conquest.
She said: "Max could have a romance with Mel at some point maybe? Just putting it out there. You’ve got to have Mel and Max.”
Tamzin has revealed her eldest daughter, Florence, was behind her decision to return to EastEnders.
Tamzin said: “I told my nine-year-old, ‘There’s a couple of things on the table — one film is in Cardiff, another is in Leeds and one is in Hong Kong.
“‘But they have asked me to go back to EastEnders — what do you think?’
“She said, ‘Can you come home every night?’ and I said, ‘Yes’, so she went, ‘Well do it.’”

Mel was pregnant when she fled Walford in 2002 — and viewers will meet her son, Hunter Owen played by newcomer Charlie Winter.
Tamzin said: “Young girls and guys are going to be swooning over him — he’s gorgeous and brilliant.
“Their relationship is going to be fraught. She is a lot more damaged than 16 years ago. She is the same person but more brittle.”
