Emmerdale bosses face backlash from furious viewers over Ross Barton acid attack storyline
Fans of the show aren't keen on seeing the terrifyingly common type of attack on the small screen

EMMERDALE bosses face backlash from upset viewers over Ross Barton’s upcoming acid attack storyline.
The character, played by Michael Parr, will be the victim of the horrific crime as part of a dark new plot twist.
But fans of the show aren’t impressed about the prospect of seeing the crime, which has become terrifyingly common, on the small screen.
One fan tweeted: “Why are @emmerdale doing an acid attack storyline? Acid attacks are just about dying down, don’t bring them back up again giving sick idiots ideas again! #Emmerdale.”
While another blasted: “It's bad enough reading about it let alone start creeping in to living rooms!”
And someone else asked: “I thought Emmerdale was set in country not inner city where acid attacks take place.”
Yesterday it was confirmed that Ross was set to be doused in the corrosive liquid during a case of mistaken identity, when Debbie Dingle's revenge plot against Joseph Tate goes massively wrong.

Rumours of an acid attack storyline have been around for months as the research team on the ITV soap looked into doing a story on what has become a notoriously common crime.
Mike Parr, who plays Ross, said the attack would be his biggest storyline to date and said his character's life will be altered forever.
He said: “It’s a big responsibility and one that I was very nervous about taking on.
“The Emmerdale team has done extensive research and we really want to raise awareness of the devastating consequences an attack like this can have on a person’s life.
“It’s so important to get it right and do the story justice. I know this is a reality for some people.”
