Married At First Sight spoilers: ‘Workaholic’ Harriet who hadn’t been on a date in FIVE years marries man she’s never met before because she’s tired of being single
MARRIED At First Sight viewers will see another couple tie the knot on tonight’s show, after they grew tired of being single.
Financial adviser Harriet, 32, marries police sergeant Richard, 28, after meeting for the very first time at the altar.
Harriet had not been on a date for five years after her job took over and prevented her from dating.
Speaking about her decision to take part in the dramatic experiment in tonight's episode, she says: “After five years on my own I do worry about finding the person I'm going to be with.
“I look at my friends settling down and I just think: ''Why haven't I got that yet? And when is it going to happen?''”
After a series of vigorous tests, which all couples on the show undertake, she was matched with Richard, who also works unsociable hours thanks to this job.
He had tried to find love using up to a dozen different dating sites, but despite having five serious relationships in the past, he hadn’t found the one.
Discussing his part on the show, he said: “We work strange hours, we work evenings and weekends and it does have an impact on relationships but I'm definitely a romantic.
“The sort of love I'm looking for is the sunshine, the rainbows, the kind of skipping down the street at the end of the movie.”
The pair were given just six weeks to prepare for their big day – knowing nothing about each other.
Their first introduction was - not surprisingly - a little bit awkward and they didn’t seal their union with a kiss when they were pronounced man and wife.
Speaking after the service, Harriet seemed happy with the match and said: “He seems really lovely and kind… I have a really good feeling about it.”
Richard was just as pleased, adding: “First impressions are really good, she's really traditionally pretty, and she's really nice, she's got great sense of humour.”
He later won her over with an impressive wedding speech, but it’s unclear if they sealed the deal in the bedroom as Harriet admitted she was unsure whether to sleep with a man she had met just hours before.
However it seems it was a good match, as the bride admitted she was glad she decided to tie the knot with a man she'd never clapped eyes on before.
She said: "All my anxiety is gone now and that's got to be a good thing. It's nuts, I didn't think I was going to get married, definitely didn't think I'd marry someone I'd never met, and now I have a ring of my finger."
