Who is Michael Le Vell? What is his background?

Michael Robert Turner, known by the stage name Michael Le Vell, 53, was born December 15, 1964, and is an English actor.

He is best known for playing garage mechanic Kevin Webster on Coronation Street since 1983.

Michael began his acting career in the Oldham Theatre Workshop.

Before landing the role of Kevin on Corrie, he played paperboy Neil Grimshaw on the show.

He then went on to star in the BBC shows Fame is the Spur and One by One.

Is Michael Le Vell married?

In October 1986 Michael married actress Janette Beverley in October 1986, after meeting her on Corrie.

They have two children.

In 2011, the couple split up after 25 years together.

At the end of 2017 he got engaged to long-term girlfriend Louise Gibbons.

However in May 2018 he spent the night at a hotel in Manchester which has sparked fears that his relationship is on the rocks.

On May 14, 2018 it was revealed the couple were back together.

Has Michael Le Vell been declared bankrupt?

Michael has been declared bankrupt, according to reports.

The actor reportedly failed to keep on top of his tax affairs.

HMRC were named as the petitioner in the High Court and sources have revealed the actor’s outstanding bill was “a six-figure sum”, The reports.

The Sun revealed the 53-year-old paid £200,000 in legal fees in a trial over child abuse claims in 2013.

He was found not guilty but Ministry of Justice rules prevent people who can afford their defence from receiving tax-funded paybacks after the case.

This means he had to pay the full amount out of his own pocket.

Reports emerged last year that the actor was facing bankruptcy after receiving a letter threatening legal action at his girlfriend’s home in Altrincham, Greater Manchester.

He allegedly failed to settle his affairs and the High Court declared him broke under his real name Michael Robert Turner, earlier this year.

The actor's reps told Sun Online they wouldn't comment as it's a "private matter".

His exact net worth is unclear, but he earns £250,000 a year on Corrie.

Is Michael Le Vell going on I'm A Celebrity 2018?

Following the reports of Michael's bankruptcy, The Sun exclusively revealed that the Corrie star was being lined up for I'm A Celebrity.

A TV source said: "It’s still early days for producers on I’m A Celeb, but Michael is a name they're looking at.

"He’s obviously desperate for the cash, but like Amir Khan this year, he’ll have a cracking back story.

"And they’ll pay big bucks for a proper Corrie legend who will no doubt reveal all about his woes on the show.

"He's been asked before but circumstances never made sense to do it. Now that could be different."

 

When was Michael Le Vell arrested for assault?

It has been reported that Michael was arrested on suspicion of assault after a 999 call was made from his home on May 3, 2018.

A spokesperson from Greater Manchester Police said officers were called out around 10.50pm on Thursday.

They added: "He was taken to hospital then into police custody for questioning. The man has since been released with no further action."
