The girls posted the snap, taken in 2011, on International Women's Day and thanked fans for their support over the years.

They wrote: "In 2011 we started off as four young girls with a shared dream and we've grown together into four strong women!

"We wanna thank you all for helping us become who we are today and shout out to all the incredible women out there who continue to hustle.

"Keep chasing your dreams."

Fans went wild over the pic which featured Perrie Edwards clutching a huge rubber duck. One wrote: "You're such amazing, successful women! You should all be so proud."

She said: "As a girl band and as women we do face a lot of scrutiny all the time.

"Whether it’s for the way we look, how much thigh we get out, how we dance, what we sing about and we just want to say that although one day we hope that does stop.

"Right now we’re really not a**ed what people think!

“We are women, we’ll dress how we want to dress, if we want to do a twerk, we’ll do a twerk!"
