Ed Sheeran in talks to launch Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer’s TV comeback
Pop superstar, 27, wants to make up for missing out on the show when it was on telly in the nineties

YOU have to wonder if there is anything Ed Sheeran can’t do.
He’s now in talks to help launch Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer’s TV comeback.
I hear the superstar, who was the target of the duo’s humour during their Christmas special in December, is a huge fan and wants to get involved in the return of Vic And Bob’s Big Night Out.
And with his Midas touch showing no signs of slowing down, the double act are obviously delighted about him offering a helping hand.
When I asked Vic about his plans with Ed earlier this week at the National Film Awards, he was understandably keen not to say too much.
He told me: “We are talking about getting him on. We’ve got a lot of fans in that celebrity arena.
“We have been kind of thinking about some that we might faintly abuse.
“I’m not going to say any more because people might start backing off.”
The duo resurrected their anarchic early nineties show on BBC Two just before the new year and news of a full series swiftly followed. Later this year they are set to create a four-episode series for BBC Four to mark their 25th anniversary at the corporation.
A source said: “Ed is a massive fan of Vic and Bob and has made it clear that he’s interested in doing something with them.
“Because he was only born in 1991 he missed out on watching Big Night Out when it was on telly the first time round but sees this as a great opportunity to make up for it.
“He loved it when Bob paid tribute by dressing up as Ed in a sketch and he thought it was hilarious.
“Ed doesn’t like to take himself too seriously and it would undoubtedly be a huge ratings draw.
All of them think the perfect way to launch the new series would be to actually get him involved for real and they are currently looking at schedules. Everyone is hoping they can make it work.”
Alongside his recording career, multi-talented Ed has managed to cram in cameos in Bridget Jones’s Baby, Game Of Thrones and Home And Away.
Let’s hope he has also perfected his collection of knock-knock jokes to give Vic and Bob a run for their money.
Is Bridge hiding wee secret?
FRANKIE Bridge is up for another reality challenge – and ready to outdo footballer hubby Wayne.
After dazzling on Strictly in 2014, where she finished runner-up, the former Saturdays singer hinted she is going to appear on Mission Survive with Bear Grylls.
That would certainly be a tougher test than when Wayne took on the Bushtucker trials on I’m A Celebrity two years ago.
Frankie admitted she has a new job which she “can’t talk about”.
But she added: “I love a challenge. My thing this year is that I am going to push myself to do things out of my comfort zone. Hopefully I’ll learn that I need to trust in myself and I can do it.”
After an assistant chipped in: “Next stop Bear Grylls”, she added: “Funny you should say that. As long as I don’t have to drink my own wee.
“Let’s not beat around the bush – if the money is good and it’s not going to ruin your pride or go against something you believe in, then you’re going to do stuff.”
Given there is only one celeb show that requires stars to guzzle their own wee – I’m guessing that might be the show that’s now on the table for Frankie.
Katy in heavy metal
KATY Perry is no stranger to going into battle, given her past brushes with musical nemesis Taylor Swift.
And it seems clear she is now making sure she is prepared for any future skirmishes – as my pictures here appear to show she has acquired some impressive armour.
The singer wore the interesting gold creation while performing on stage in Hong Kong on Friday night.
And the former British colony is the closest she will be able to get to mainland China after being “banned indefinitely” following a controversial 2015 concert when she wore the flag of Taiwan – a disputed territory which China claims as its own.
Katy is currently travelling with actor boyfriend Orlando Bloom around Asia for the latest leg of her Witness: The Tour.
Earlier in the week they dressed up as Mario and Luigi in Tokyo to take part in a go-kart race around the city.
I wonder what Orlando makes of her love of crazy get-ups – although he is not exactly a fan of wearing clothes . . .
Liam's got bed feelin
LIAM Payne is very keen to put something to bed – and fortunately for Cheryl it’s not his backing dancer.
The singer didn’t seem fazed by having to perform alongside Chloe Ferns and the rest of his troupe in Dubai, just hours after snaps emerged showing him in the company of his female tour performers.
Cheryl later took to social media to defend the pictures and shut down rumours that her former One Direction fella was playing away.
The pair have now jetted away on holiday. Let’s hope Cheryl is just as relaxed when it comes to who gets the best sun-lounger by the pool.
Kim's pit stop
KIM Kardashian is back doing what she does best – posing and flogging yet another money-making project.
The reality star has released a make-up collaboration with her face contour artist Mario Dedivanovic – and she knows just what to do to get the news into my pages.
For her latest bout of self-promotion she channelled her inner Beyoncé and posed in a black leotard while showing off her pits.
Kim posted the picture on Instagram with the caption: “Love this shoot by @gregswalesart for my KKW X MARIO shoot!”
She’s previously taken inspiration from the likes of Cher and Rihanna.
I’m hoping she tries out a Dolly Parton rhinestone number next.
Strictly Meg mad
I HEAR Strictly producers are desperate to sign a contestant with a link to Meghan Markle.
And I can reveal they have already asked Made In Chelsea’s Millie Mackintosh – who is helping Meghan organise her wedding to Prince Harry next month – but she turned them down.
A source said: “Producers know the public have been captivated by Meghan and want to capitalise on this.”
The team is also keen to sign a footballer – but Teddy Sheringham is not likely. He said: “I’ve been asked to do Strictly but always said no.” His wife Kristina added: “We don’t like that curse, do we? I won’t let him do it.”
No doubt Ben Cohen’s ex wishes she had put her foot down too.

Jen was red-dy to grow
JENNIFER Lawrence has admitted she loved stripping off in thriller Red Sparrow, as it was time for her to make an “adult” film.
The actress, best known as Katniss in the Hunger Games trilogy, picked out her racy scenes with co-star Joel Eederton as her favourite to shoot.
Jen said: “I loved playing Katniss but I grew up and my fans are growing up with me – this is definitely an adult film.
“I needed to make that next step and make something more adult.
“Making out with Joel is always fun. Hopefully there’s a second movie.”
Given that Joel spent a lot of time half-dressed on set, I can’t help but agree.
But a sequel will have to wait after Jen confirmed she would be taking a year-long break to focus on “political stuff”.
She said: “I love my country and if I can have any small part in making it a country for my future children – hopefully – with a fairer democracy, then I can die happy.”
