Endless financial disagreements means Spider-Man films will most likely make an exit from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, leaving the films completely in the hands of Sony.
Previously, Disney had agreed that it would take 5% of the “first dollar” profits, along with all of the merchandising revenue.
However, the billion-dollar firm then tried to change those terms so that both studios would share the profits made from Spider-Man with a 50-50 split.
Sony didn't agree to the new deal and now some fans are planning to boycott the next film, while other are calling for Tom Holland to quit the role unless Disney remain involved.
What is Tom Holland's background?
Tom Holland, 23, is from Kingston Upon Thames.
His father is the comedian and writer Dominic Holland and his mother Nicola is a photographer.
He has three brothers and a dog called Tessa.
When he was seven-years-old he was diagnosed with Dyslexia.
In 2005, he got his big break in acting when he appeared in the title role of Billy Elliott The Musical.

Before the Sony/Disney deal fell through, Tom claimed that there would be a gay version of Spider-Man in the next few years.
Tom hinted the next Spidey, potentially Miles Morales, will be different to straight Peter Parker.
Asked about the possibility of an LGBT+ superhero suiting up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Tom told the Sunday Times Culture magazine: "Yeah of course.
"I can't talk about the future of the character because honestly I don't know and it's out of my hands.
