Mr Bean is now more popular than Justin Bieber as he gets more than 78 million Facebook likes
MR Bean is officially more popular than Justin Bieber after amassing more fans on Facebook than the Canadian superstar.
Rowan Atkinson’s character just needs to overtake Rihanna to make the top ten.
The hapless comic creation now has 78.44 million likes, as compared to Bieber’s 78.35 million.
Mr Bean’s page has previously overtaken those of Will Smith, Michael Jackson, Taylor Swift and Manchester United.
After overtaking Bieber the comedy character is now the eleventh most popular Facebook account.
His online success is driven by the character’s global popularity with a legion of fans in countries such as the US, India, Mexico, Brazil and Indonesia.
Mr Bean also has a huge YouTube following with 4.5 billion views last year.
The Facebook account includes short clips from the films, TV shows as well as the cartoon series.
Real Madrid footballer Cristiano Ronaldo’s page is the social network’s most popular with more than 122m likes.
Atkinson is recently brought back the character for a Chinese film called Top Funny Comedian — but the film was only released in China.

Mr Bean’s total likes could be much higher as Facebook is banned in the communist state, where the character is huge.
His last appearance in a film was in 2007’s Mr Bean’s Holiday, an international hit that won a huge audience in the Far East.
In recent years Mr Bean appeared during the Olympics opening ceremony in 2012, and for a one-off sketch for Comic Relief in 2015.
