THE music world was in mourning after the sudden and untimely death of world famous DJ, Avicii.
Avicii battled with health issues including stress and pancreatitis before passing at the age of 28.

Who was Avicii?
Avicii - real name Tim Bergling - was a Swedish DJ born in Stockholm on September 8, 1989.
He chose the name Avicii - which means "the lowest level of Buddhist hell" - because his real name was already taken on MySpace.
He shot to fame with his Levels single in 2011, and followed it up in 2013 with the award-winning hit Wake Me Up.
When did Avicii die?
Avicii was found dead in Muscat, Oman, on April 20, 2018.
On April 26, 2018, his family confirmed that he had taken his own life.
In a statement, they said: “Our beloved Tim was a seeker, a fragile artistic soul searching for answers to existential questions.

“When he stopped touring, he wanted to find a balance in life to be happy and be able to do what he loved most — music… He could not go on any longer. He wanted to find peace.”
He stopped touring and doing live performances in 2017 after being diagnosed with pancreatitis.
He was forced to have an emergency appendectomy and have his gallbladder removed.
Was Avicii married and did he have kids?
The DJ did not have a wife or kids.
He was dating a Canadian model named Raquel Bettencourt when he was 25 - even moving in with her in California - but the two split in December 2014.
Before that, Avicii was dating a Washington University senior named Emily Goldberg for two years. She paid tribute to him by posting a throwback snap of her kissing the star.
She captioned the sweet image: "'Come on babe, don’t give up on us. Choose me, and I’ll show you love.'
"Those are lyrics from a song Tim wrote for me. I wish I could have lived up to them.
"For the two years we were together, he was my closest confidante, and my best friend.

Prior to his death, the musician was not rumoured to be seeing anyone and his Instagram account did not have many pictures of him with any women.
What did Avicii's family say about his death?
His brother David Bergling reportedly flew to Oman as the family "searched for answers" over the DJ's shock death.
The Swedish star's sibling was said to have landed in Muscat less than 24 hours after the sad news was confirmed, .
He reportedly checked into a hotel close to the Muscat Hills resort, where Avicii had been staying a week before he died.
In a statement, his family said they are "devastated and we ask everyone to please respect their need for privacy in this difficult time. No further statements will be given".
