'ten times sadder'
AVICII fans have found new poignancy in Mike Posner’s I Took A Pill In Ibiza lyrics following the DJ’s tragic death.
Mike’s 2016 hit song famously featured the lyrics “I took a pill in Ibiza. To show Avicii I was cool”, which have now taken on a different meaning to many of his fans - despite the fact there is no suggestion that drugs were involved in the star’s death.

The Swedish DJ, who was found dead in Oman yesterday at the age of 28, had described the reference to himself as an “honour”.
He told magazine: “Mike’s a good friend, so I took it as an honour. And I agree – parties can be amazing, but it’s very easy to become too attached to partying in places like Ibiza.
“You become lonely and get anxieties. It becomes toxic.”

Mike, who previously revealed he wrote the song after being given a “mystery pill” by a concert-goer while watching Avicii, is yet to comment on his death, but the pair’s fans have gone online to discuss the lyrics in light of the sad news.
One person wrote: “With Avicii's death, Mike Posner's song is now ten times sadder. "I took a pill in Ibiza to show Avicii I was cool.”
While another commented: “Listening to mike posner's 🎶"i took a pill in ibiza to show Avicii i was cool" will never be the same.”
And someone else wrote: “Avicii's death gives mike posner's "took a pill in ibiza" so much more depth and meaning... RIP.”

News broke yesterday evening of Avicii’s passing, with no cause of death given. He had previously been open about his health issues.
He had suffered acute pancreatitis, in part due to excessive drinking, and went on to have his gallbladder and appendix removed.
Today a police source from Oman has said there was “no criminal suspicion” , according to Sky news.
The star’s heartbroken brother David Bergling has reportedly landed in Muscat less than 24 after the Avicii’s death, as the family “search for answers”.
And this afternoon hundreds of fans gathered in Stockholm for a memorial dance party for the DJ.
