DIY SOS host Nick Knowles to get ‘Alan Partridge’ show where he will find pieces of art for the public

I HAVE a feeling someone at the BBC came up with the title of this show before working out the concept.

I’m told the Beeb are working on a programme called Home Is Where The Art Is, which will be hosted by Nick Knowles.

The series, which sounds like something straight out of an episode of Alan Partridge will see the DIY SOS man help members of the public find a sentimental piece of art.

It’s provisionally being lined up for BBC1, although whether it makes it on to telly remains to be seen as it relies on the pilot episode being a success.

A BBC source said: “In Home Is Where The Art Is, Nick will help members of the public find a piece of art which means something to them, such as something that brings back memories of a dead pet.

“The participants have to be willing to spend between £100 and £500 on the art, and Nick and the team will go on the hunt for a perfect bit of art to mark a special occasion.

“It could be a birthday, an anniversary or a tribute to someone who has died.

“They could also have a piece commissioned within the price limit. The actual logistics are still being worked out.

“It does feel like a show that had its name before a format.

“It’s just a pilot for now, but the BBC and Nick are hoping it’ll be made into a full series.”

If this has been made, then there must still be hope for Youth Hostelling With Chris Eubank.

Gabby: I'll tech care

TOOTHBRUSH, check. Travel adaptor, check. Laptop . . .  er, hang on a minute.

Yes, Gabby Logan’s packing for the World Cup is proving more difficult than she expected.

The BBC Sport presenter is having to rethink which gadgets she takes with her after receiving some sinister advice about covering the tournament in Russia.

The football expert said a senior police pal had warned her that phones and laptops were at “risk” of being infiltrated by spies, so she’s taking a load of dud tech instead.

She said “A friend of mine works very high up in the Met and he said ‘Look, take advice because whatever you take runs a risk of being infiltrated’.

“That doesn’t mean it is from the state. That’s just from just cyber-crime that happens.

“So take a device that you don’t really care about. Take a device that doesn’t have anything else on it, I guess.”

Time to dig out the Nokia 3310.

At least she can crack out Snake when England aren’t playing.

Jack's contact sport

JACK Whitehall is milking his footie contacts book for new YouTube show Training Days.

The latest episode went live last night and sees him rope in Russia-bound England squad players Kyle Walker, Raheem Sterling, and Dele Alli.

Jack forced England and Man City right back Kyle to audition for Britain’s Got Talent in disguise, as I revealed earlier this year, pictured.

Kyle also went to a Jamaican-themed party with his City teammate Raheem before going up in a “delecopter” with Spurs star Dele.

The final episodes

lTHE BBC has confirmed when the last ever episode of Peter Kay’s Car Share will air: Monday, May 28.

The final two episodes premiered to fans at a screening held by Kay last month to fund children’s charity The Lily Foundation.

Benedict leads C4 to Brexit

THERE’S not enough drama surrounding us quitting the EU, so Channel 4 has commissioned a political thriller, starring Benedict Cumberbatch, about it.

He will play Dominic Cummings, the campaign director of Vote Leave, in Brexit, which starts filming this year.

The two-hour programme will be written by Olivier Award-winning James Graham who said: “I’m so excited to try and get under the skin of what happened during that historic vote”.

Brexit is one of several shows announced by Channel 4 yesterday.

Another is The Circle, where people compete to win £50,000 while living in a block of flats where they can only communicate via social media. And C4’s new Director of Programmes Ian Katz also teased a live daytime show which will go out from their new headquarters.

They just need to decide where that’ll be first . . .
