What happened in the previous seasons?
The show is set in the present day but in a parallel universe where every family has its own Synth, a highly developed robot that's eerily similar to a real human.
Season One ended with rebel synth and cool blonde killing machine Niska (Emily Berrington) heading off with a copy of the consciousness programme that could activate other synths to think for themselves.
The other conscious Synths entrust their copy (and the only copy, as far as they know) to Laura Hawkins for safe keeping.
Season Two picks up several months after the climax of the first series and focuses on the rights of Synths vs what it means to be human.
The series culminates in the activation of every synth around the world. The mass awakening of conscious Synths begins to cause havoc on the streets.
