Brendan Cole reveals moment he knew his ‘cards were marked’ and his Strictly career was over

EX-Strictly pro Brendan Cole has revealed the moment he knew his career on the BBC show was over when he mocked new judge Shirley Ballas.
The dancer said his "cards were marked" during an appearance on the spin-off show It Takes Two with Zoe Ball.
He admitted he had done wrong in a new episode of John Bishop: In Conversation With, saying: "I went, ‘I’d imagine she’s more likely to be wanting to impress us, I’ve been on the show 15 years, she’s just showed up’.
“Of course Shirley has seen it and gone ‘you little s***’.
“I knew the error of my ways as soon as I came off air.
“I sent her a message saying, ‘Didn’t mean any offence, just making good telly’. I didn’t get a reply.”
The 41-year-old broke down on live TV when he revealed he had been axed from Strictly after 13 years on the show.
Brendan told ITV's Lorraine: It’s quite, actually, hard to talk about.
“The BBC haven’t renewed my contract. We get contracted year upon year.
"They’ve made an editorial decision to not have me back on the show. I’m a little bit in shock. I’m quite emotional, a bit raw about it.
“It’s done via a process of a phone call and stuff. I have had 15 incredible series on the show. I’m very proud of the whole show. It’s a great team.”
He continued: “I’m disappointed. It’s very hard to talk about. It’s a recent decision.”
Despite rumours of a feud between Brendan and Shirley, the head judge, 57, described him as "an amazing dancer, amazing person".
