James Corden finally persuades Sir Paul McCartney to take part in Carpool Karaoke after three years of trying

ALL you need is . . . a microphone, four wheels and lots of determination.
After three years of trying, James Corden has finally persuaded Sir Paul McCartney to ride shotgun in his Range Rover for singalong sensation Carpool Karaoke.
The Late Late Show host and the Beatles legend filmed a special extended version of the smash hit in Macca’s home town of Liverpool at the weekend.
Paul is seen taking a magical mystery tour of his old haunts, including an emotional visit back to his childhood home for the first time in 50 years.
A source said: “James has been desperate to coax Paul into his car since he launched the series back in 2015, so he wanted to make this sketch extra special.
“He took him back to the home Paul lived in when he was at secondary school, which is where The Beatles composed and rehearsed their earliest songs. It was the first time Paul had been back there in five decades and it brought back a lot of memories.
“They also went to see Penny Lane and The Beatles’ statue at Pier Head, where they took selfies, before Paul played a secret gig at the Philharmonic pub.
“After James had joined Paul for a duet of Hey Jude, he got behind the bar. As he was pulling pints Macca performed a stream of hits, as well as a brand new tune. Fans were saying that this was the best thing he’s done in years.”
The song will feature on Paul’s new solo album, which he is expected to announce very soon — and will be his first release since 2013’s New.
A-list guests In the run up to the launch, Macca has wiped his Instagram feed and deleted his profile picture.
Meanwhile, James is bringing his US talk show back to the UK later this month. The four episodes will air on Sky, and feature other A-list guests include Cher, Cate Blanchett, Orlando Bloom, Niall Horan as well as Foo Fighters.
It’s not the first time James has filmed the show here. He shot Carpool Karaoke with Macca’s pal Ed Sheeran in London last year.Perhaps he put a good word in for James.

Hrvy's mentor
HRVY has amassed 3.2million followers on Instagram and now the social media sensation can add Shawn Mendes to the list.
The pair hit it off backstage at the Capital Summertime Ball at Wembley Stadium on Saturday.
A source close to the Canadian singer said: “Shawn chatted to HRVY for 20 minutes and advised him to see a vocal trainer every day to keep in shape and stay focused. They really hit it off.”
Singer and former TV host HRVY, who performed at the Ball with Jonas Blue, admitted there was another artist on the bill he was hoping to bump into backstage.
He said: “I want Jess Glynne to write me a song because she’s killing it at the moment. She’s got loads of No 1s.”
Perhaps Shawn can introduce them.
Drake's a Raye on son-shine
Raye has opened up about her relationship with Drake, just weeks after the news of his alleged secret son came to light.
Bizarre revealed how they were dating in April – and it has since been claimed he is the father of a baby boy with former porn star Sophie Brussaux. But Raye still has nothing but praise for the Canadian rapper.
On how they met, the singer said: “I think through Instagram. He followed me and there was a bit of back-and-forth.
“He’s great and super-talented. I know he’s going through a lot right now. But he’s wicked.”
And Raye hinted that Drake is planning to visit London to see her. Speaking at Saturday’s Capital Summertime Ball, she said: “I think he’s coming . . . I’m a bit overwhelmed.”
I don’t blame her.

Lorde lays down law
Lorde used her Parklife gig in Manchester to give fans a pep talk.
The Kiwi superstar, sporting a purple lace tracksuit on stage on Saturday, opened up to the 80,000-strong crowd about her fear of being alone and how to combat those feelings.
She said: “It’s a really unique feeling. For a moment you think maybe everyone I love is going to leave me, maybe all my friends think I’m super-lame and don’t tell me.
“If you think like that, f*** them. They’re not your real friends. They’re not your people. We’re your people. I’m your people.”
Lorde went on to power through hits including Royals, Tennis Court and set-closer Green Light.
No wonder she needed three backing dancers to take the weight off her feet.

Tay earns reputation
Taylor Swift’s Reputation tour is one of the year’s biggest.
I headed to Manchester’s Etihad Stadium at the weekend to see if she could live up to the considerable hype. And she delivered on a grand scale, with two hours of immaculately crafted pop.
I met Taylor behind the scenes where she promised me the tour would be “bigger and better” than anything she has brought to the UK before.
Having dated Brit actor Joe Alwyn since 2016, she has developed a taste for the place.
And her fella was in the crowd on Saturday, inset right, as Taylor took to the stage for the second of two shows here before heading to Dublin this coming weekend.
Then she returns to London to take on Wembley Stadium on June 22 and 23.
Taylor has been quiet lately but she made a major statement on stage as she unveiled a huge snake-themed set – part of an ongoing jibe at showbiz rival Kim Kardashian, who branded her a “snake” in 2016.
Screens were plastered with images of serpents and Taylor even flew across the crowd riding a giant python. Theatrics aside, the singer boasts a set list heaving with hits, including Blank Space, Shake It Off and Love Story. Halfway through she offered a well-considered tribute to the victims of last year’s Manchester bombing.
Meanwhile, thumping renditions of Look What You Made Me Do and Bad Blood proved she has no trouble delivering to a stadium-sized arena.
Energetic performances from the star and her huge troupe of dancers meant there was plenty to enjoy for the varied crowd, which ranged from youngsters emulating Taylor’s look to dads dragged along for the ride admiring it.
Whatever your reason for coming, this won’t disappoint.
