DAVE GROHL is surely the nicest man in rock’n’roll.
But that didn’t stop JAMES CORDEN having a pop at the FOO FIGHTERS star for criticising his Carpool Karaoke viral TV smash.
Speaking backstage in Manchester, the rocker revealed he’d received an angry message from the Late Late Show host.
James was hurt after Dave called the skit “uncomfortable” when his band debuted on the segment last year.
In an exclusive chat at the Etihad Stadium, Dave looked sheepish as he confessed: “I got a f***ing text from him that morning. He was like, ‘What the f***, dude?’
“I was like, ‘Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god!’
“I had to text him back and was like, ‘No dude, that’s not what we meant.’
“What we were trying to say was it was uncomfortable to sit in a car and try to sing our own songs.
“If we were singing QUEEN songs or LED ZEPPELIN songs or BEATLES songs, it would have been fine. But to sit there and sing your own songs . . . we felt weird about it.
“I don’t drive around Los Angeles singing to my own songs. So when we said it was an uncomfortable experience . . .
“I felt so bad when it came out in the press — ‘Foo Fighters had a terrible time, they hated the whole f***ing thing’. We didn’t. He’s such a sweet guy.”
The pair have since made up, with James inviting the legendary rockers back on The Late Late Show for a second time to put things right.
They feature tonight in a special four-part series filmed in London, to be screened on Sky One, alongside a bumper line-up of A-list talent including ORLANDO BLOOM, CHER, Sir PAUL McCARTNEY, NIALL HORAN and ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER.
During their stint on Carpool Karaoke last year, Dave and the boys belted out classics including All My Life, Best Of You, Learn To Fly and The Sky Is A Neighborhood, the latter from ninth album Concrete And Gold.
Of the skit, Foos guitarist PAT SMEAR said: “By hour three in the dude’s car, it got less fun.
“It kinda went on. When we stopped at Guitar Center, that felt like we were done. But it was like, ‘This is halfway’.”
I love their honesty.
THE Foo Fighters were snubbed for PRINCE HARRY’s Windsor wedding despite classing the royal as “one of the boys”.
The rock band had saved the date after forming a close bond with MEGHAN MARKLE’s fiancé, above, who was first to visit Dave after he had surgery on his broken leg in 2015.
But the frontman is not holding a grudge and texted Harry to congratulate him and arrange a catch-up as his band touched down in Manchester for the first night of the UK leg of their Concrete & Gold tour on Tuesday. Dave said: “I didn’t get an invite. I didn’t. We texted. I said ‘Congratulations, we’re in town’.
“He’s very happy. He’s a really sweet guy. When I broke my leg he was the first to come and visit me.
“He was so low-key. My kids and our nanny didn’t realise who he was.”
They grew close after the rockers helped Harry by performing at the closing ceremony of his Invictus Games in 2014 – despite Harry giving drummer Taylor Hawkins a slap.
At the time, Taylor recalled: “We were getting ready to walk on stage and I was tired and jetlagged.
And he just goes (slap). It was funny. I wore the slap with pride. He’s one of the boys.”

Here's why Foo Fighters sell out stadiums faster than TAYLOR SWIFT and BEYONCE.
Almost a quarter of a century on, Dave Grohl and co deliver a masterclass in rock'n'roll - proving exactly why US pop stars struggling to flog tickets for massive venues without stadium-shaking, raw rock riffs and such accomplished showmanship.
The band state their claim to play "every song from every album we've ever done" as they open the show with All My Life at Manchester's 60,000 capacity Etihad Stadium.
Powering through two-and-a-half hours of hits, Dave's notorious roar remains as dependable as TAYLOR HAWKINS' drum solos, despite concerns it's been on the brink.
He says: "Apparently I've lost my voice so I can't scream any more," before storming into Walk - which he dedicates to daughter Violet.
The stadium rockers, who invited Bizarre backstage, make few departures from their trademark sound - no reinventions.
We diehard fans wouldn't want it any other way.
DAVE is eyeing up a collaboration with ADELE after being introduced to the megastar’s music by his daughter.
His mission comes after rumours she had recorded on the Foo Fighters’ last album proved untrue.
Last month, Dave tested out how his gravelly voice would sound on a classic Adele ballad when he performed a moving duet of her hit When We Were Young with his 12-year-old daughter Violet at a charity gig in San Francisco.
Dave said: “Violet would listen to Adele’s records and just imitate and that’s how she learned to sing.
At home there are instruments everywhere and her voice – she was born with it. Everybody loves Adele.
“Unfortunately it wasn’t true (about her being on the last album) but maybe next time.”
Adele, right, can make it happen.
