Gary Oldman’s mum Kathleen, 98, dead as Oscar winner posts tribute to woman of ‘great talent and mirth’
GARY Oldman's mother has died just three months after witnessing her son win a Best Actor Oscar.
The 60-year-old shared a touching tribute to his mum Kathleen on his Instagram page today after she passed away aged 98.
He wrote: "It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Kay Oldman, Mother of Gary Oldman, Jacqueline Wyles, and Maureen Lesley Bass.
"Kay was a woman of great talent and mirth, keeping her loved ones smiling with her quick wit and ready repartee until the end.
"For her family and friends she was a source of warmth, inspiration, amusement, support and she will be deeply missed.
"We were very fortunate to have her in our lives and were given time to say goodbye.
"The past few days have been heartbreaking but also filled with love, laughter, and celebration of a life fully lived.
'We mourn and grieve but loved ones never leave us as long as we keep their memories with us.
"Kay touched so many of us, so she goes on in our thoughts and in our hearts!
"The family requests privacy in their time of mourning and we thank you for the outpouring of love on her and our behalf."

Kathleen was also mother to Gary's two older sisters, one of which - Maureen - is better known as EastEnders actress Laila Morse.
The mum raised her three children alone after Gary's father walked out on their family when he was just seven years old.
After winning the Academy Award for his work as Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour back in March, Gary said in his speech: "Put the kettle on mum, I'm bringing Oscar home".
Kathleen had lived with her famous son in Los Angeles for 20 years after he moved her out of the family's South London home.
During his Oscars speech, Gary said: "She is older than Oscar. She is 99 years young next birthday. And she is watching this from the comfort of her sofa.
"I say to my mother, thank you for your love and support."
