James ‘Arg’ Argent back in rehab after split with Gemma Collins and will miss the start of new Towie
Friends close to the telly favourite told The Sun Online Arg had bravely decided to seek help again
JAMES “Arg” Argent is back in rehab following his split with Gemma Collins.
The 30-year-old, pictured here in July, is now back together with Gemma but decided to book in for treatment. He will not be filming the start of Towie and has agreed with producers to take a break to focus on himself.
Gemma and Arg’s rollercoaster romance has played out on screen for six years.
In July the couple split but decided to get back together shortly afterwards. Gemma is standing by Arg as he works through this tough period in his life.
The reality star decided to head back into treatment as a preventative action after finding he was struggling to cope again.
A source told The Sun Online: “James was under a dark cloud recently and has made the brave decision to enter back into a programme to help him get back on track.
“He has been attending regular therapy and secondary care at an outpatient treatment facility in London.
“James told his family and friends he wouldn’t be starting filming with this series of Towie.
“He’s being supported by the show’s producers who have agreed he needs to take time out to focus on himself.”
Friends also explained how his struggles affected his relationship with Gemma and said it had been tough on them both.
The insider added: “The pressure has put a huge strain on their relationship.”
Gemma and Arg’s relationship has been tested throughout summer and this will play out in her new TV show Diva Espana.
The Sun Online understands the 37-year-old reality star will talk openly about her relationship with Arg and the breakdown of their romance in the series.
Our source also explained how Gemma had been completely open about the insecurities she had in their relationship and would be honest about how it had affected her.
James thanked his fans for their support after The Sun Online revealed the news.
