Game Of Thrones wins the Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series

He roared after picking up the award and later joined his co-stars on stage after they won the gong for Outstanding Drama Series.

The ceremony got off to an awkward start and fans blasted bosses for snubbing diverse talent, despite opening with a diversity themed song.

After ten winners were announced, Regina King was given a rousing ovation after bagging the gong for Lead Actress in a Limited Series for her role in Netflix drama Seven Seconds.

British star James Corden's quip about “#EmmysSoWhite” - which was actually about television legend Betty White being honoured - also fell flat over the lack of diversity.

The ceremony got off to a rocky start and James Corden's #EmmysSoWhite joke saw many viewers mistaking the quip - aimed at celebrating Betty White's showbiz career - as a jibe at the lack of diversity
