Nick Grimshaw to go back to university after quitting Radio One Breakfast Show
The DJ has enrolled in London’s Central Saint Martins university in the hope of bagging a new job in live music production

HIS decision to quit the Radio 1 Breakfast Show was enough of a shock, and now Nick Grimshaw has confirmed his career is moving in a surprising direction.
Two months after leaving the show in favour of the drivetime slot, he has enrolled at London’s Central Saint Martins university in the hope of bagging a new job in live music production.
The host presents his Radio 1 show from Monday to Thursday — then spends Fridays and Saturdays studying for the qualification.
Speaking on Thursday at the Albert Kennedy Trust gala dinner, raising funds for homeless LGBT people, he said: “I’m starting a course in set design.
"I’m going back to uni but not forever.
"I want to learn how to be a set designer.
"I want to do live music production.
"I did that before radio so now I basically need to go to uni to get all of the terminology and the language of it.
“I’ll do it at Central Saint Martins on Fridays and Saturdays.
“I had to go and buy my pencils and scalpel and a lightbox to trace.
“I’ve been interning for a bit on and off but it’s always been an interest and a love of mine.”
But Grimmy, who started the course at the weekend, might need to put in a bit more work than he did the first time around.
He originally studied communication and media studies at the University of Liverpool but failed his final year.
Last week I told how he has started dating a dancer named Mesh Henry but it’s not the only positive change in his life since ditching the Radio 1 Breakfast Show.
He added: “Now I get up at 8.30am, which is four hours later, and I’ve started doing a new horrible workout every day.”
Actually, the later starts suddenly don’t seem quite such an unappealing prospect.

Zara has ex on her mind
ZARA LARSSON is set for chart stardom with her brilliant new single Ruin My Life – but her boyfriend isn’t too happy about it.
The tune, about going back to a toxic relationship, was inspired by an ex she split up with months before the release of her second album So Good last year.
But her new love, British model Brian Whittaker, is disappointed she isn’t singing about him instead.
Swedish Zara seen here in exclusive behind-the-scenes snaps from the song’s video, said: “Brian was like, ‘Why aren’t you writing songs about me?’
“But I think I’ve just got to tell my story and it’s also really tricky to write super good, fun, love songs that aren’t cheesy.”
Zara strips off in her new video, released today – and says she was inspired by Beyonce.
She explained: “She looks very sexy but on her own terms.
"It’s fine to feel you want to be attractive, because in the pop world that is linked to being successful.
“You want to look good and you want people to see you.”
She certainly looks good here.

Ronan funny role is all in the...timing
RONAN KEATING’s career plan after Boyzone's farewell tour is a joke – in both meanings of the word.
In one of the most unlikely career changes ever, the singer has revealed he is planning to move into the world of comedy after being tapped up for roles in a string of new movie.
In an exclusive interview at the Arias Awards in Leeds, Ronan said: “There’s a couple of films I’ve been asked to do that are on the table but finding the time to do them is the hard part.
“It’s going to be very different – they’re comedy films. You know I’m quite funny, me.
“Comedy’s always something I’d love to do. It would be a lot of fun.
"I grew up watching comedy, I love comedy.”
But Ronan’s career overhaul will have to stay firmly on the backburner until after Boyzone’s final hurrah next year.
The pop star, who previously starred in hard-hitting film Another Mother’s Son, added of the band’s final tour: “I’m not sad yet, it’s too early.
“We’ve got a whole year ahead of us with an album release, promotion, tour, so it’s going to be another 12 months.
“But I’m sure next summer when we get to the pointy end it will be emotional.”
At least the comedy will help cheer him up.

In an exclusive chat backstage at Sunday’s Radio 1’s Teen Awards, she said: “People shout at me at airports, like, ‘You’re not old enough to go through these gates.’
