Will Smith’s Fresh Prince co-star Alfonso Ribeiro corrects Jada Pinkett Smith and says they DIDN’T go on a date despite her claims in recent interview
The actor hilariously told Jada what she thought was a date was actually just a friendly lunch
FRESH Prince of Bel Air's Alfonso Ribeiro bluntly told Jada Pinkett Smith her "memory is off" after she claimed to have gone on a date with her husband Will Smith's co-star.
The Gotham actress, 47, shocked fans when she claimed to have been wooed by Alfonso before they appeared together on A Different World.
Sharing the moment on Twitter, Jada enthused: "I believe @alfonso_ribeiro and I went on one date. Before I was even on A Different World."
But Alfonso - who sat in for Bruno Tonioli on last weekend's Strictly - was quick to shut her down.
"Sorry Jada," he wrote. "I think your memory is a little off.
"We went to lunch with your family when we both guest starred on A Different World the year before you became a regular."
Jada then quipped: "My fault Alf... I thought it was a date."
Fans were quick to laugh at the confusion, with many joking that Alfonso - who played Carlton on Fresh Prince - was keen not to hinder his friendship with long-time pal Will.
"He scared of Will fr ... Alf is NOT trying to mess up his flow with Will," one commented.
"Lol. Keeping her honest Alfonso," another mocked.
"Love how he remembers it perfectly," a third chimed.
The revelation came as Jada spoke to Will, daughter Willow, 17, and mum Adrienne on her streamed chat show Red Table Talk.
As Will began to recall the moment he was introduced to his wife-of-21-years by Alfonso, Jada interjected: "I actually think I dated Alfonso.
"Yeah, I think we went on one date together."
Proving it wasn't the first time he'd heard of it, Will added: "He like took you on a motorcycle, or something.

"I think so, my memory is a little... I dated a lot of people. But we went on one date."
But while Alfonso kept Jada honest about their non-existent date, he did help her meet her future hubby.
Will explained: "I remember, you were on A Different World, and Alfonso knew everybody.
"When I saw you on Different World, it was that thing and I don’t know what it is, the bell rings. And I knew that there was something in our energy that would be magic."
