Esther Rantzen joins Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford for second series of Channel 5 show Do The Right Thing

ESTHER Rantzen is joining the line-up for Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford’s Channel 5 show Do The Right Thing.
The broadcasting legend, 78, will be fronting individual national campaigns on the programme when it returns for a second series in January.
Speaking about her new role alongside Eamonn and Ruth, Esther said: “I’m thrilled to be working with Ruth and Eamonn - two of the best presenters on television today.
“I can’t wait to tell the stories that really matter to the Channel 5 viewers, tackling social injustices and exposing wrongdoing and sometimes having a laugh on the way.
“I’m also thrilled that the show is produced by Richard Woolfe - he started his TV career as my researcher a few years ago.”
Esther hosted BBC1 consumer and entertainment show That's Life from 1973 until 1994.
That's Life became known for its mix of hard-hitting investigations and humour.
Esther then went on to appear on Strictly Come Dancing in 2004 dancing with Anton Du Beke.
The next series of Do The Right Thing will be hosted from a West End theatre as bosses also decide to host the series live.

Eamonn told The Sun: “From our point of view live is where it’s at – the audience is more gripped cause anything could happen within that hour, anything."
Ruth added: “Also I think with social media it’s great to have interaction with your audience which you can’t do when you’re recorded. So I think that will add an extra dimension to the programme, cause it’s great to hear what people are thinking.”
Reporter Michael Underwood, 42, will also return.
Viewers can get Eamonn, Ruth, Esther and Michael to investigate their problems by emailing Dotherightthing@channel5.com.
The show ran several campaigns last series including trying to get a ban on dog shock collars, urging retailers to put warning labels on nappy sacks and raising awareness of carbon monoxide alarms.
Eamonn and Ruth said: “The campaigns that we highlighted last series have had far-reaching impacts that we’re very proud of.
"Thanks to the bravery of a bereaved mother talking about the risk of suffocation from nappy sacks five manufacturers have agreed to implement a warning text on their packaging.
“We’re incredibly proud of the series and by welcoming Esther Rantzen to campaign with us we know we will continue to deliver more potentially life changing results.
“We also have a lot of fun on the show and one of the loveliest things is being able to surprise people. We rarely hear about the good work that so many are quietly doing in their communities – we love to champion and surprise those amazing unsung heroes.”
