She is now in a wheelchair and will be told today if she is well enough to perform in next Sunday’s show.

A source on the ITV programme said: “Gemma had been wired up to a heart monitor before she went on stage.

“She believes she blacked out while she was skating, which is what caused her to crash into the ice.

“She didn’t know what had happened when she got back up — her blood sugars were low and she didn’t feel right.

“Yesterday she was being wheeled about in her mum’s wheelchair but still made a commitment to visit a children’s hospital because she didn’t want to let anyone down. She is determined to make the show on Sunday despite the injury and is telling her friends, ‘I ain’t giving up’.”

After the show — which drew 7.1million viewers to be the most watched of the weekend — she covered her limbs in ice packs and was given physiotherapy.

Boyfriend James Argent, 31, who was watching in the audience, feared Gemma had been knocked unconscious.

But she regained her composure and continued her routine with her professional partner Matt Evers.

Gemma, James and some close friends then went for a curry to celebrate her getting through the show.

Yesterday ex-Towie star Gemma, known as The GC, said she was “absolutely devastated and embarrassed” by the fall.

But she said that she thought of boxer Tyson Fury “and knew I had to get back up and carry on”.

Gemma had battled through injury before Sunday night’s performance and was treated for a torn rotator cuff — the muscles and tendons in the shoulder.

She had also received treatment on one of her knees, which she said had been causing her pain during rehearsals.
