EASTENDERS fans couldn't believe their eyes when they saw Peter Beale on the Oscars red carpet earlier this evening.
Ben Hardy, 28, played Roger Taylor in hit film Bohemian Rhapsody, which is nominated for five Academy Awards tonight.
The British actor played Ian Beale's son Peter in the BBC One soap between 2013 and 2015, with the character moving to New Zealand four years ago.
This evening, Ben walked the red carpet alongside his Bohemian Rhapsody co-stars, and even stopped for a chat with E! News host Giuliana Rancic.
Looking dapper in a white tuxedo, the star discussed the popular film and the cast's plans for the evening - but viewers at home were more focused on seeing such a familiar face at the A list event.
One fan tweeted: "Peter Beale at the Oscars is honestly something I never thought I'd see."
Another added: "Little Peter Beale at the Oscars what a time to be alive."
A third said: "Peter Beale at the Oscars feels like a glitch in the simulation."
Bohemian Rhapsody is far from Ben's only stint in a Hollywood blockbuster, with the actor also starring in X-Men: Apocalypse.
Last year, the hunk ruled out returning to EastEnders as he admitted that working on the show left him feeling "unfulfilled."
When asked if he would consider a soap comeback, the star told magazine: "Probably not, to be honest with you.
"It’s such a hard thing for an actor, working on a soap.
"You're constantly left feeling unfulfilled.
"You have very little time to concentrate on anything else.
"I'm not slating the process - it’s just the nature of the beast. I really enjoyed working on EastEnders."
