Oscars 2019: Viewers blast ‘boring’ Academy Awards as hostless show leaves them cold

OSCARS viewers weren't impressed with tonight's hostless ceremony with many branding the three-hour show "boring".
After comedian Kevin Hart stepped down from the role, the Academy decided against replacing him and opted for star-studded guest presenting slots instead.
The outcome left many cold, with viewers taking to Twitter to vent their frustration.
"So boring and predictable !! Switching back to the walking dead. #Oscars," wrote one.
Another said: "@KevinHart4real why? This is the most boring #Oscars “Show” so far. Such a “good” idea to have no host.
As a third moaned: "#AcademyAwards are boring though. I can't believe that I woke up at 03:00am for this cringe worthy jokes and fake smiles. #Oscars.
"Oscars Planning Committee: let’s make a show more boring than the super bowl.
"sorry guys but the Oscars are boring me this year.
"The Oscar’s is actually very boring 😅 I keep muting this thing 😐."
During the ceremony Mahershala Ali won the Best Supporting Actor for his role as musician Don Shirley in Green Book.
Accepting the gong, he said: "I want to thank Doctor Shirley for trying to capture his essence pushed me to my ends, which is a reflection of the person he was and the life he lived.
"I thank my partner Viggo [Mortensen], it was extraordinary working with you.
"Peter Farrelly I thank you for your leadership and guidance and giving us space to work it out.
"I want to dedicate this to my grandmother who has been in my ear my entire life telling me if at first I don't succeed try and try again."
Queen and Adam Lambert kicked off the show in style performing classic anthem We Are The Champions backed by the late Freddie Mercury on the big screen.
In the absence of a host, Maya Rudolph, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler delivered a series of well-received gags to begin the ceremony - even taking a pop at US President Donald Trump and his desire to make Mexico pay for the border wall.
Regina King picked up the first award of the night for her role in If Beale Street Could Talk.
She gave a tearful acceptance speech for her first Academy Award, paying tribute to the stars she beat.
Animated Feature Film went into the groundbreaking Spiderman: Into The Spiderverse, while Best Animated Short went to Bao.
Best Documentary Feature was up next and went to Free Solo, while Vice won Make-up And Hairstyling for Christian Bale's dramatic transformation.
Black Panther scooped Production Design and Costume Design.
Roma picked up the Cinematography and Foreign Language Film gongs with director Alfonso Cuaron collecting the prizes.
Space race drama First Man scooped the Visual Effects after recreating the moon landing.
Bohemian Rhapsody landed a triple in the Sound Editing, Sound Mixing and Film Editing categories, with the music of Queen very much at the centre of the film.
