FELICITY Huffman became a household name in Desperate Housewives, but now she has landed herself in some serious hot water.
The actress has been arrested over a college admissions scam. Here's more about the scandal and famous star.
Felicity was charged by a US court in March 2019 after allegedly taking part in a £4.9million scam which helped her daughter get into an elite college like Yale or Stanford.
The actress was charged with conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services fraud.
The scheme was allegedly masterminded by William Rick Singer who ran a college preparation business in California.
He used the cash to bribe two exam administrators and hired a man called Mark Riddell to sit the tests or correct the answers.
It’s claimed Huffman made a donation of £11,500 to the charity which fronted the scam.
In return her eldest daughter, Sofia, 18, was allegedly given twice the amount of time to complete the SAT, a standard college entrance test in America.
The indictment also said that Sofia’s answers were secretly corrected afterwards – giving her a 400 point increase on her final result.
An unsealed court document also stated that “Huffman later made arrangements to pursue the scheme a second time, for her younger daughter, before deciding not to do so”.
An FBI spokesperson said in a news conference after the charges were made: “This is a case where they flaunted their wealth, sparing no expense to cheat the system so they could set their children up for success with the best money can buy.”
Fellow actress Lori Loughlin, who stars in the Garage Sale Mysteries films for TV, was also charged.
On April 4, 2019, Felicity and Lori both appeared at a preliminary trial to hear the charges against them.
Lori and her husband, Mossimo Giannulli, entered not guilty pleas back in April.
Huffman, 56, pleaded guilty when she appeared in a Boston Federal court to charges of fraudulently conspiring to win a college place for her oldest daughter Sofia Grace Macy.
She admitted to paying $15,000 (£11,000) to have her daughter's SAT exam answers secretly corrected in 2017.
Prosecutors recommended a four-month prison sentence and a $20,000 fine.
She will be sentenced on September 13.
The TV star was among 14 people — out of 50 charged — who entered guilty pleas over mail fraud.
"I am in full acceptance of my guilt, and with deep regret and shame over what I have done, I accept full responsibility for my actions and will accept the consequences that stem from those actions.
"I am ashamed of the pain I have caused my daughter, my family, my friends, my colleagues and the educational community.
"I want to apologise to the students who work hard every day to get into college, and to their parents who make tremendous sacrifices to support their children and do so honestly.
"My daughter knew absolutely nothing about my actions, and in my misguided and profoundly wrong way, I betrayed her.
"This transgression toward her and the public I will carry for the rest of my life.
"My desire to help my daughter is no excuse to break the law or engage in dishonesty."
Felicity Huffman is an American actress born in New York on December 6, 1962.
She was born into a wealthy family and has six sisters and a brother.
Her parents, Grace Valle and Moore Peters Huffman, divorced a year after she was born but she was raised by both parents.
As a teen Felicity discovered that her biological father was actually a family friend, Roger Tallman Maher.
She was raised in Colorado and attended the boarding school The Putney School in Vermont before graduating from Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan.
She attended NYU, Circle in the Square Theatre School and Rada in London.
She is married to fellow actor William H Macy with whom she shares two daughters.
Sofia Grace was born in 2000 and Georgia Grace followed in 2002.
Both Felicity and William have stars on the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Felicity started her career as a theatre actress, making her stage debut in 1982 and Broadway debut in 1988.
She won the Obie Award for her performance in The Cryptogram.
She won the role of Terry Spann in Golden Years in 1991, before securing a part in Sports Night.
Her performance as Dana Whitaker in Sports Night earned her a Golden Globe nomination.
She followed this with parts in Out of Order and Frasier, where she played Julia Wilcox.
But it is really her role as Lynette Scavo in Desperate Housewives that made Felicity a household name.
She earned an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress as well as three Screen Actors Guild Awards and three Golden Globe nominations.
Her portrayal of a transgender woman in 2005 film Transamerica earned her a Golden Globe as well as gaining her an Oscar nod.
She's since gone on to star in Georgia Rule, Phoebe in Wonderland, Rudderless and Cake to name a few.
Between 2015-17 she starred in crime drama American Crime for which she received a further three Emmy nominations, two Golden Globe nominations and a Screen Actors Guild nomination.
In 2019 she's starring in the miniseries When They See Us as well as the movie Otherhood.
