Clips from Doctor Who, Coronation Street, Queer Eye, Bodyguard and Peter Kay's Car Share were shown to viewers before Killing Eve came up.

However Susanna admitted she didn't want to show the clip - from the final moments of the series one finale - in case it spoiled things for viewers who haven't yet seen it.

But Piers disagreed, and said if people hadn't watched the show, which aired last year, by now, then they weren't likely too.

He added: "Hang on. Can we just play the damn Killing Eve clip?"

The producers duly played the footage, which showed the two female leads lying on a bed together, seemingly about to give into the sexual tension that has crackled between them all series.

But just as villain Jodie gets close to Sandra's character Eve, she realises she is holding a knife against her stomach, and threatens to stab her with it.

After the clip ended, Piers appeared to regret his persistence in showing it, saying it was "a little inappropriate" for morning television.

Susanna replied: "That's why I didn't want to run the clip."

During the chat with guest Rylan Clark-Neal, who was promoting the Must-See Moment, Piers asked if his This Morning colleagues Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby had the same sort of relationship as him and Susanna.

Rylan joked the pair "hate each other", and Piers quipped: "Just like us then, but without the sex."

Susanna replied with a laugh: "You're a HR claim waiting to happen Piers Morgan."
