Ulrika Jonsson claims she isn’t unlucky in love – she’s just had ‘so many Mr Rights’

The 51-year-old has also been wed to John Turnbull and Lance Gerard-Wright and has enjoyed high-profile relationships with the likes of Sven-Goran Eriksson and Stan Collymore

ULRIKA Jonsson has denied being "unlucky in love" after splitting from third husband Brian Monet.

Mother-of-four Ulrika told: “When people have said I am ‘unlucky in love’, I just think: Why is it unlucky in love?

“Sometimes relationships run their course. I have had so many Mr Rights!

“Are you supposed to meet someone at 14 and just be with them for ever? That is unlikely to happen.”

The TV presenter, who wed American advertising executive Brian 11 years ago, has admitted that she can’t face the thought of dating again after the union broke down.

Opening up about her unsuccessful efforts to save the marriage, Swedish-born Ukrika said: “You can only resolve problems with another person.

“If I’m honest, getting another divorce age 51 is not where I thought I would be, so who knows? I just don’t know what shape my future will take.

“I can’t contemplate dating again. Then again, I’ve said I will never marry again before, and I did.”

The former breakfast TV weathergirl has had a colourful love life when her first marriage to cameraman John Turnbull, from 1990 to 1995, ended after she had an affair with his friend Phil Piotrowsky.

She went on to have a fling with Gladiator’s star Hunter James Crossley, 45, before dating footballer Stan Collymore, 48, who infamously attacked her in a Paris bar.

She had a brief affair with England football manager Sven-Göran Eriksson, 72, while he was dating Italian lawyer Nancy Dell’Olio, 57.

Then, when presenting a show called Mr Right, where Lance Gerrard-Wright had to choose a girlfriend from a group of women, Ulrika turned the format on its head and ended up marrying him herself in 2003 in a romance that lasted two years.

Ulrika has also defended having four children by four different men.

She has son Cameron, 25, with her first husband John, Bo, 19, with German hotel manager Marcus Kempenand, Martha, 15, with her second husband Lance, and Malcolm, 11, with Brian.

She said: “I came from Sweden. There is a real feeling of the sisterhood there that I never felt here. Sometimes, I felt antogonism.

“Women can be awful to other women. It was almost as if the worst label you could be given then was ‘ambitious’.

“OK, I’m biologically a 4x4. But plenty of men father children and then disappear, and they are treated like loveable, if randy, old goats. Then women like me, whose romantic dreams have fallen apart - but who work hard to provide loving homes for children - are vilified.

“I never abandoned my children. They all live with me. I pay for and care for them. As for being irresponsible... having a child isn’t a throwaway thought.

“It’s the absolute opposite, a child is a commitment for life - much more of a commitment than marraige.

That’s just a piece of paper you can tear up or dissolve. You surrender your body for nine months and remain connected for always.”

Speaking in Best magazine, Ukrika explained how she had taken a “self imposed exile” from TV to spend more time with her children.

She added: “I felt my children needed me more as they got older. I wanted to help shape them and help them shape themselves - and while I love working, I didn’t really know where I fitted in as an older woman, with the explosion of social media and reality TV.

“There was a sort of falling out of love with it."
