WAYNE Rooney wants to clobber joker Jonathan Ross in the boxing ring.
The former England skipper, 33, called out the 58-year-old TV host for mocking him in the past.
In an interview with boxing promoter Eddie Hearn, he begs: “Get me a fight with Jonathan Ross.”
The Manchester United legend trained as a fighter as a teenager.
Eddie, the man behind some of the sport’s biggest bouts in recent years, during a podcast chat tells Wayne — who was once knocked out in his kitchen when boxing with football pal Phil Bardsley — he would love to put the match on Sky Box Office.
But when he says that 58-year-old Wossy might not be a “top one” to fight, Rooney fires back: “I don’t care, I just want to get into a ring with him.”
As Eddie points out that Wayne clearly does not like the ITV star, the DC United striker falls tellingly silent.
The feud is thought to have started when outspoken Jonathan repeatedly poked fun at Rooney.
Before the World Cup in South Africa in 2010, he compared him to a gorilla. Wossy said: “If you want a mascot, don’t look further than Wayne Rooney. He doesn’t even need the suit. ‘And now we bring out our mascot, the gorilla’, and Rooney comes lumbering out.”
And the following year, he laid into father-of-four Wayne for being included in a Dad of the Year poll. Wossy said: “Wayne Rooney is on the list — is that in a separate category for people with tails?”
When Wayne launched his website back in 2007, he pinpointed Jonathan as his “least favourite” TV personality on a list of likes and dislikes.
In the chat, part of Hearn’s new BBC podcast called No Passion, No Point, Rooney also refers to The Sun’s 2015 video of his fight with Phil, now at Burnley.
The pair traded blows before Wayne was knocked to the floor unconscious.
He said: “Unfortunately, it got out. There’s other things that have happened worse than that. When we finished I sat there.
“He’s got blood pouring out of his mouth. My nose is gone.”
But then-Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal saw the funny side, according to Wayne.
He said: “He was p*****g himself. He found it hilarious.”
