Strictly Come Dancing’s Anneka Rice says show bosses have banned her from wearing trousers

NEW Strictly star Anneka Rice has accused show producers of banning her from wearing trousers.
Anneka, 60, says she asked if she could cover up her legs because she is a “tomboy” — but was given a sequinned frock to wear.
In official pictures released ahead of last night’s BBC1 launch show, Anneka is seen wearing a tasselled turquoise and blue knee-length cocktail dress.
She told The Sun on Sunday: “I did ask to be in trousers and I was horrified they put me in a dress the first week.
“I’m a natural tomboy. That bit (wearing a dress) slightly horrifies me — I’m not interested in frilly or flouncy clothes at all.
“No one at work has ever seen me in anything but jeans. So the dressing- up bit is alarming.
“I never enjoyed dressing up as a child unless it was to put on an army uniform or a boiler suit.
“I can’t imagine myself in a long dress at all.
"I only wore pink for the first time last Christmas.”
Radio 2 broadcaster Anneka made her name in the 1980s in Channel 4 series Treasure Hunt, where she was seen wearing a jumpsuit while flying in a helicopter.

She is partnered with last year’s pro champ Kevin Clifton, 36.
A show insider said: “Backstage, Anneka has been openly nervous about wearing dresses, but has also said she wants to challenge herself and do it.
“The wardrobe department even had the idea of putting her in a jumpsuit or boiler suit as a nod to her Treasure Hunt days one episode.”
