Who are Bob Saget's siblings?
Bob Saget personally grew up with two siblings, who both died at a young age.
His sister Andrea died of an aneurysm at the age of 32. He had another sister, Gay, who passed away at the age of 47, just a few years after she was diagnosed with scleroderma.
Following Gay's death, Saget wrote and directed the 1996 film, For Hope.
The movie starred Dana Delany and aired on ABC.
Aside from filmmaking in honor of his late sister, Saget also served on the .
According to the now-deceased comedian, his parents lost multiple children in their lifetime.
"There’s been a lot of death in my family," Saget told in 2013.
"My parents have lost four kids, and we dealt with death and difficulty through odd, sick humour. My dad just ended up with a strange sense of humour and I inherited it and took it to a professional level.
"He was able to use humour to help us survive. I like to joke that he touched a lot of people, and they’re all pressing charges now."
He and his family also suffered the loss of his twin brothers at the time of their birth, according to reports, although few details are known.
What is scleroderma?
Scleroderma is a group of rare diseases that directly affects the skin and connective tissues.
The illness is more common in women than men and often occurs between the ages of 30 and 50.
Scleroderma currently has no cure, yet various treatments exist to help ease symptoms and improve the overall quality of life.
According to , there are multiple types of scleroderma. For some, the disease only affects the skin, tightening and hardening the organ. In a majority of people, however, scleroderma can directly harm blood vessels, internal organs, and the digestive tract.
On January 10, 2020, account to honor his sister, Gay, writing: "My sister Gay would’ve been 73 yesterday.
"She died when she was 47 from scleroderma, a disease that I’m part of finding the cure, as a proud board member of the #SclerodermaResearchFoundation @srfcure - My heart goes out to everyone who’s lost someone dear to them."
What happened to Bob Saget?
Saget was in Florida for a series of stand-up comedy shows, wrapping up his latest gig in the early morning hours of Sunday, January 9, 2022.
Later on Sunday, the Sheriff's Department and the fire department responded to the Ritz-Carlton Orlando around 4pm ET, after learning hotel security had found Saget unresponsive in his room.
