Love Island’s Sherif victim of a sick death hoax after troll claimed he’d died in a fire

LOVE Island's Sherif Lanre has become a victim of a sick death hoax after an online troll claimed he had died in a fire.
The 20-year-old chef's Instagram account was flooded with 'RIP' messages tonight after another account claimed he had passed away.
In the sick post, the Instagram user wrote: "rip my boy sherif. my man has f***ing died in a house fire After he left the Hot water tap on and spent the last hours of his life suffering horribly.
"hope his family are ok after this shocking news, rip in peace my bro #blessupmyg."
The twisted individual then told everyone to tag and follow their account to win a free gift card off the back of the horrendous lie about Sherif.
They wrote: "if we can all pay our upmost respects by going onto his account @sherif_lanre and commenting how sad we are. (everyone make sure to follow, like and tag your freinds for a gift card giveaway) #loveisland #dead #freeclout."
Sure enough, Sherif's latest post was quickly filled with people 'paying their respects', however a spokesperson confirmed to The Sun it was a sick hoax.
The post is even more insensitive considering the sad passing of two former Love Island contestants, Sophie Gradon and Mike Thalassitis.
Sophie, 32, took part in the 2016 series of the ITV2 reality show before sadly taking her own life in June last year.
Meanwhile 2017 Islander Mike, 26, was found in a park in North London after taking his own life in March this year.
More from Love Island
Sherif was an original Islander to enter the villa this series, but was kicked off the show by bosses after just nine days.
A Love Island spokesman said at the time: "After breaking the villa rules Sherif had conversations with the producers and it was mutually agreed that he would leave the Love Island villa."
Sherif said: "In a case of poor judgement, I broke the villa rules and as a result agreed with the producers that it was best for me to leave the villa.
"I regret that I didn’t conduct myself in the right way and, as a 20 year old guy, it’s something I know I will take on board and learn from.
"I really enjoyed my time in the villa and look forward to catching up with everyone on the outside."
