Four major supermarkets to face showdown after being accused of ripping off drivers by nearly £1bn

CABINET Minister Grant Shapps has promised "real action" to help hard-up motorists from being fleeced by rip-off fuel costs.
The Energy Secretary is hauling in the big four supermarkets and fuel retailers this afternoon for a showdown meeting to make sure motorists benefit from falling costs.
His comments come just ahead of the meeting as Ministers work towards a Pumpwatch price check to help drive down costs.
It comes after Mr Shapps wrote in The Sun at the weekend that he wanted to see an "immediate" end to stricken Brits being hit hard in the pocket.
He previously called on the competition watchdog to investigate fuel prices. The probe found the big four supermarkets ripped off drivers by nearly £1 billion - by charging 6p per litre too much.
In a video, he said: "Sun readers rightly pointed out that when prices go up they rocket up and when they come down, they come down slowly like a feather.
"So well done to The Sun. I can tell you that we're going to be enforcing complete transparency from the supermarkets, making them publish their prices so you will be able to compare them on a website in real time.
"So we're going to get some real action. Let's see how the meeting goes."
