JAMES RODRIGUEZ had to be replaced 30 minutes into Colombia's crucial clash with Senegal due to injury.
The 26-year-old midfielder was consoled by former Manchester United and Chelsea striker Radamel Falcao as he left the field.
Rodriguez appeared to be carrying an injury from early on in the game in Samara.
The Real Madrid man, who was the star of the 2014 World Cup, went straight down the tunnel after coming off.
He was replaced by Sevilla's Luis Muriel as Colombia chased a win to remain in Russia.
They started the day third in Group H which would see their tournament end before the knockouts.
Rodriguez's injury comes on the anniversary of his wonder goal against Uruguay in Brazil four years ago.
That goal put the 26-year-old on the radar of the world's biggest clubs.
And while his career may not have reached such heights again, Rodriguez continues to be the key man for Colombia.
Before today, he had been involved in 10 goals in just seven World Cup appearances.
Colombia are fighting for the final place to progress in Group H.
Japan began the day as group leaders with Senegal in second, while point-less Poland are heading home.
Colombia need to beat Senegal in order to remain in the tournament.
They were eliminated at the quarter-final stages four years ago, beaten by hosts Brazil.
