The Euros 1992 winner was most animated when cheering on his son Kasper, who saved saved three penalties during the match - including one against Luka Modric in the final minutes of extra time.

However, the good times soon soured as the game went to a shootout - and Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic's converted a decisive spot-kick which gave Croatia a dramatic 3-2 win.

The shootout was as entertaining as it gets with a combination of great saves by Danijel Subasic and misses by Christian Eriksen, Lasse Schone and Nicolai Jorgensen ending Denmark’s World Cup campaign.

A huge opportunity now awaits for Croatia, who will play hosts Russia in the quarter finals.
